It’s Mapro ;)

Mapro is a farm on the way to Mahabaleshwar. The restaurant there is perfect to sit in. It is a semi outdoor setting, with glass top tables. It is beautiful to visit during cooler climates. Do not miss the opportunity to visit the place when strawberries are in season! Grown in the farm, there are a variety of fruits and a few vegetables available for sale. Mapro is very green and very beautiful, with sights worth seeing, and a nice place to take a romantic stroll around.

They have a chocolate factory; the chocolates made are used in the food that is served there. Everything has an “au natural” feel to it. We ordered both Strawberry and Chocolate Milkshake. The milk is obtained at the farm, and the ice cream is processed at Mapro. The strawberry and chocolate syrup are both freshly made at the restaurant. The milkshakes were thick and creamy, and very filling. Like we mentioned, everything is on the spot, and everything hits the right spot!

We ordered veg sandwiches, and the price was slightly on the higher side. We ordered pizza as well, which was made in an open Italian style oven. The vegetables apart from the olives were grown in Mapro.

KADHAI !!! :)

Time for snacks. The evening time? Or wait, do we just have snacks in the evening anymore? Want a snack? Then Kadhai is the right place !!!

2014-02-17 13.21.24

Located in Aundh and frequently visited by students, this place created a buzz in our minds. The entrance is artfully decorated and really reminded us of a “pakka” Indian style restaurant.

2014-02-17 12.49.09

There is a huge seating area where you can go with large crowds in the evenings after class, or after work, and eat food and gossip. It is a self service restaurant, which will have your calories burning and for us worked to build up our appetites.

Sandwiches, south Indian breakfasts and chaats, available all through the day. Fresh food that refreshes your mind. The speciality of this place is that there is a SEASONAL dish, called Ghewar, and over here, it is available ALL through the year. But if you want to grab it, you need to hurry- made in smaller quantities and in GREAT demand. Everything like mentioned before is made fresh and even the bread is freshly baked!

2014-02-17 12.49.20

Reasonably priced and excellent in taste, we ordered Raj-Kachori, Dahi Papadi, dosa and Paneer Gobi paratha. It set our taste buds on fire, in a fine way. Sweets are also available, and if you are in a hurry and just want to go home, order a take away…! We ordered Jalebi though, to satisfy our sweet tooth!

CAFE TOONS !!!

Did you ever crave to live in a comic? Or be part of cartoon? Visit Cafe Toons, located at Wonderland Basement at MG Road, Pune.

IMG_20140923_135401311

The ambience is amazing to start with. The walls are covered in cartoons and comic strips, that brings up a lot of childhood memories. There is more for the rocker in you! A comic that mentions the A-Z of rock!

IMG_20140923_135312243

There! Tucked away yet smoothly visible, is the bar. This just makes you want to order booze, even if you haven’t ever tried it in your life! The tasteful ambience just makes you want to keep coming back for more. There is a juke box right next to the bar, and the music there is sinfully amazing. There are 5-6 TVs for the avid TV watchers, so that they do not get “bored” while hanging with their friends.

 IMG_20140923_132411216

IMG_20140923_135342941

We ordered to our mouth and heart’s content, we ordered Fish and Chips, which reminded us of a perfect English version of the dish.

IMG_20140923_132451994

 IMG_20140923_132953249

The cheese and pineapple that we ordered had our mouths watering. First time we have tried the same! Who knew Cheese and Pineapple would taste so GOOD together!

 IMG_20140923_132639412

Veg Supreme Pizza, not being huge vegetarian fans, we still went ahead and ordered a veg Pizza. It was cheesy with each slice gooey and dripping with cheese. Every bite sent us closer to turning vegetarian!

 IMG_20140923_133612223

We recommend this place! Especially to students. Not because the working crowd is NOT fun, but because the place is easy on the wallet, and just reminds us of days, “back when we were kids.”

THE BURGER BARN CAFE

Burger Barn Cafe is located in Lane 5 of Koregaon Park, off south main road on a corner.

Place is easy to locate thanks to Google maps.

the-burger-barn-cafe-3

It has a very warm and happy look to it with the use of Red color throughout the cafe. It gives a very casual look to this place.
Place is well done up to cater to the college crowd that come here, but they could take note of the cleanliness and hygiene of this place. A surreal verandah with plants and creative wall hangings are definitely the plus points. The seating is simple but efficient, but seats are basic not that comfortable.

Washroom: It was dirty. There was no faucet on the tap. There was a bucket of water instead with a dirty mug. The loo smelled horrible.

Overall place is good and food is great, the kind that attracts the young generation.

Elevate Your Senses at Elevate Lounge!

As you enter the premise, the sudden urge to click selfies and groupies would rise! The floor would light up with every step you take and mirrors around you would entice you to keep turning back…

With songs blasting from the speakers, our grand entry was met with just perfect ambience for a fun evening with friends!

Located in Pimple Saudagar, PUNE, Elevate is what any lounge would offer; good music, dim lights, special alcohol offers but with an added benefit. 9.4 kms from SIC, it takes about 20 minutes to reach through an auto.

The seating arrangement is well placed to accommodate different sizes of groups, proving that the space is well utilised. Every table that is placed along the boundary of the lounge is accompanied with beautiful and intricate designs on the wall that symbolises a grandeur and chic personality. Also, the combination of purple gold and red painted all over the lounge gives a very royal and contemporary feel to the guests.

Good food and great alcohol offer makes Elevate a lounge that I would like to visit more than just once. Good food because, it’s not very usual for a lounge to serve such decent tasting dal makhani and paneer makhanwali. Apart from the usual sandwiches, soups and non-veg as well as veg starters, combo meals consisting of Indian bread, Dal Makhani, Raita and Salad plus your choice of curry is a rare sight in a lounge. Then again, we are talking about Elevate here!

Coming to great alcohol offer, Elevate offers one cocktail and subsequently free vodka shots. Hold your horses! There are the dreaded ‘Terms and Conditions Apply’ to this offer as well. The free flowing vodka shots should be accepted by the same guest who takes the cocktail. Adding to this, the free flowing vodka will be flavoured shots. Nevertheless, even the free flowing flavoured vodka shots offer is alluring enough.

A kind warning to the prospective visitors – have a detailed conversation with the servers, asking deep questions about the offers. They may forget to inform you that the vodka is flavoured!

The USP of Elevate is undoubtedly its free flowing vodka offer.

The downside of the lounge is its servers’ articulation skills w.r.t. the offers.

Our ratings:

Food: Average – 7/10, Alcohol: Good – 8/10, Price: Great! – 8.5/10

Horn Ok Please :D

Recommendations – they are so important to everyone. Be it for a student applying for M.S. or a travel blogger about a new place to eat.

Hence, we landed at HORN OK PLEASE in Pune.

Located at FC Road, this place generally requires 10-40 mins of waiting period. The ambiance is of a local dhaba set in Punjab.

IMG_20140706_214851716

IMG_20140706_214802126

Once you enter, the service is super quick. For the people waiting, they have made a waiting area with typical “khaats” found in villages.

The menu is reativley written

Marrakesh #ArabicFood

Arabic Food.

It has its own aura about it. The smell, the taste, the after-effects. It is one of its kind.

And we specially miss it cuz we miss Gulf and our NRI friends who come bearing Zatar bread, mamoul and dates after vacation.

And so, we were overly joyed to see Marrakesh outlet opened in Hinjewadi, Pune.

IMG_20140703_215438685-EFFECTS IMG_20140703_215413440Located on the city highway which connects an outskirts Hinjewadi to main city, this place gets lot of eyeballs for sure.

The seating is comfortable, fine-dining type, unlike other Marrakesh, where it is open air seating.

The music is subtle Arabic.

The staff courteous.

IMG_20140703_213438289 IMG_20140703_213429576

But, few things on the menu are not available and it is overpriced for its food quantity. Yes, if it was a dhaba sort, I would accept the food quality too. But for fine dining Arabic restaurant, this was a slight disappointment.

IMG_20140703_213420387 IMG_20140703_213413670The biggest disappointment was the traditional trademark vegetable pickle…!! It was bland, a total unexpected thing.

The zatar bread was basically tandoori roti with zatar sprinkled over it. An okay-okay deal.

Overall, go to Marrakesh Hinjewadi when you have a sudden urge to eat Arabic food but lazy to drive down to city.

A class apart- AlFredo’s | Mumbai

Mumbai.

A place where tourists find “food” on their to-do-lists. Mainly because the city offers such variety and at a huge band of prices.

One of such extremely classy place is Alfredo’s. You can visit with your family and friends, or with a date. this is on a pricey end, but absolutely worth it.

Take a look:

IMG_7955Soft lights, artictic ambience, courteous staff, fast service.

The only lacking thing here was- small food portions. When you consider the price-to-quantity ratio, it is very large!

But, we were there to splurge, and we did.

IMG_7958 IMG_7959 IMG_7960 IMG_7974

Salads, pasta, platter, veg-non veg…we ordered everything possible, along with drinks.

IMG_7975

The cost for 2 here came upto 2K. Something not everyone can afford to pay, hence we called this a niche and class apart restaurant.

A good place to enjoy a calm, cozy, classy dinner with someone!

A veggie @ Mainland China

Challenges. We all love them. Don’t we?

So when I was told I CANNOT enjoy a meal at Mainland China because it is a place for non-vegetarians only, I said – CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

Mainland China. A place you would expect the chefs to bring down the culture of China to our plates. And so they did.

2013-12-14 20.46.20

Located in Hinjewadi, this outlet is a mini-china on Indian soil. Okay- that may be an exaggeration, but we were swept off by the food, decor, ambiance, music, colors, service, booze – basically everything!!

DSC_0306 DSC_0305

As we were seated waiting for menu, these bowls with salad appeared. They clearly understand customers are really hungry – and this gesture compensates for any delay in main course.

2013-12-14 20.46.04We ordered. It came. We clicked. We ate. We loved.

DSC_0297 DSC_0298 DSC_0299 DSC_0300 DSC_0302The food was master-chef level, the service was impeccable, the quantity was suffice and the vegetarian in me was happy.

CHALLENGE COMPLETED 😀

To celebrate this we ordered two desserts, and both were to die for. Seriously, I would kill my friends for a dozen of these 😉

DSC_0304DSC_0307 DSC_0308All-in-all, it is only a myth that Mainland China is for non-veggies only. Veggies in town – DO VISIT. You’re in for a surprise.

See what Zomato, Zootout and Burrp have to say.

(.)Polka Dots(.)

A while back we got a chance to visit Polka Dots. Located in Aundh, Pune, India – this is a heaven for foodies.

DSC_0247We ordered both veg and non-veg dishes and I don’t want to say anything about it – have a look !!

DSC_0239DSC_0241DSC_0240From the look of the menu, we felt the dishes will be exotic – since the names were pretty fancy. And when these dishes arrived, we had to force ourselves to wait for a while – to take pictures of the splendid serving.

Sophisticated, stylish, professional looking food – we were happy even before we ate.

And then it all felt just. The hype, the price, the wait. For these yummiliciously delicious dishes!!!!

The ambiance is cozy, you can find friends, families, dates, youngsters everyone having a good time here. Considering the area isn’t much large – they have done good for themselves.

DSC_0246As you would expect, we were much full after the main course to have dessert, but we could not resist clicking a picture.

DSC_0243All in all, it’s a wonderful place to check out. For those who haven’t done yet, we strongly suggest you drop by here SOON!!
